The Vermilion County Republican Women's Scholarship was established 2013. The endeavor replaces four years of club intervention participation in the Barbara Bush Reading Program. Vermilion County Republican Women's Club purchased and donated every year a book to each Vermilion County Elementary School and Danville Public Library. Specific book selections were first carefully critiqued independently by Sharon Black, Vice President and Education and Literacy Chair, a retired teacher, educator. Members from Vermilion County Republican Women's Club provided readings in the elementary schools each year. Members also read the selections as part of the club's Americanism and United States Constitution Basic Lesson presented via the club's special presentation at the Danville Public Library. Vermilion County Republican Women's Club, instead, is now providing a Danville Area Community College Scholarship each year to a qualifying female student. The Vermilion County Republican Women's Club Scholarship is a scholastic merit scholarship and the recipient selection is underpinned via academic achievement The recipient must be entering their Sophomore year at Danville Area Community College.
